CONCEPT
Inspired by a recent trip to South Africa, Suspended is a symbolic, abstract, visual poetry style piece that sheds light on the dark world of the African rhino, a life that now hangs in the balance, on the verge of extinction due to the increasing horn trade.
To create the volumetric shape of the rhino with hanging pieces efficiently, the pyrite and strings are instanced using Maya’s MASH Network. The pyrite pieces use Arnold’s physically-based Ai Standard shaders, lights, and renderer.
